Leica Microsystems has expanded its EM sample preparation business by making another company acquisition. On February 15, 2008, the purchase agreement was signed with Bal-Tec AG based in Liechtenstein. Bal-Tec AG develops, produces and sells instruments for sample preparation in scanning electron microscopy which is an excellent match for the Leica range of transmission microscopy products. Both technologies are used for preparing biological, medical and industrial materials samples.
