Leica QClean

Analysis software for the measurement and classification of particles on filters

Overview

Leica QClean Workstation

Leica QClean is a quality assurance imaging solution running on the established Leica MW image analysis workstation. Leica QClean controls Leica microscope systems for the automated measurement and classification of particles on circular shaped samples, such as filters in quality assurance. The system automatically measures filters where the cleaning fluid of micro mechanic and engine components has been poured through, and dried in an oven. The size and number of particles measured on this filter are used for characterizing the cleanliness of the components to standard quality requirements defined by the customer. Furthermore, Leica QClean is fully compatible with most industrial standards including VDA 19 and ISO 16232.

Key Features

  • Approved quality assurance system.
  • Complete solution including camera, automated microscope and an image analysis system.
  • Optimised for quality control purposes.
  • Highly customisable solution to suit your specific application.
  • Quickly measures circular filters.
  • Rapid measurement and classification of multiple types of particles simultaneously.
  • Unique auto detection mode to remove user influence.
  • Outstanding mosaic function to measure large and small particles at the same magnification.
  • Direct access to all measured particle data with a relocation function for artefact removal.
  • Highly reproducible results.

Designed to measure the contamination of cleaning fluids for micro mechanic and engine components during the production process, Leica QClean can be used in all applications where particle classification and characterisation on circular shaped substrates is undertaken. Examples include testing the cleanliness of lubricants, hydraulic fluids, fuels, measurements for environmental pollution, carbon black particles in diesel exhausts, and controlling the cleanliness of engine blocks, gear boxes, camshafts and crankshafts.
Leica QClean has been built to harness the needs of all workers within routine production, and in doing so is available in three different modes:
  • Service Engineer - This mode allows basic system settings and calibrations to be carried out.
  • Supervisor - This mode allows database handling, definition of image analysis and gives settings and evaluation details.
  • Standard User - This mode provides functionality for changing filters, inputting specific measurement data, image setup, focus, starting the measurement process and storing and printing data.
